Of particular interest to families during the school holidays is the exhibition which runs from Monday 5th July to 25th August – an interactive exhibition for all ages. You are invited to meet a cast of characters whose mechanical routines reveal the secrets of life at the push of a button. Vying for attention with these new pieces are strange and rare machines from the past, classic clockwork automata that fix us with their glassy stare. Alive, their rhythmic movements transport the visitor into an unforgettable dream. The history and mechanics of Automata are demonstrated and explained in a hands-on and interactive way. There are also regular demonstrations of the Automata in action at the museum.
